Gaming usually starts with a download, an update, or expensive hardware. Amazon wants to remove those steps. Starting today, Amazon Prime Video games are available through Luna in the Prime Video app. Eligible users can move from streaming a movie to playing a game without leaving the app. The switch takes just a few clicks.
The rollout began on July 23 for Prime members using Fire TV devices in the US and UK. There is no extra fee for Luna, and players do not have to download games before they begin. A compatible controller or even a smartphone is enough to get started.
Amazon says many people are interested in gaming but never take the first step. Some do not own a console. Others do not want to spend time downloading large game files. Luna is designed to make getting started much easier. The bigger story is not just the launch of another feature. Amazon is changing where people discover games. Instead of opening a separate gaming app, users can now find games while browsing movies, TV shows, and live sports.
That simple change could make a real difference. Imagine opening Prime Video to watch The Boys or a football match. A game appears in the new Games tab. One click later, you are playing instead of waiting for a long download. That makes cloud gaming feel much more approachable.
Jeff Gattis, General Manager of Gaming at Amazon, says bringing Luna into Prime Video helps people find games more easily. If they see a title they like, they can start playing within seconds instead of searching for another platform.
The Luna library already includes games such as Hogwarts Legacy, EA Sports FC 26, and Indiana Jones. Amazon says it will add new titles every month, giving players more reasons to return.
Amazon is also linking its games with its streaming content. Viewers can start by watching the Masters of the Universe movie on Prime Video. Once it ends, they can play Masters of the Universe: Legends Unite. Both are part of the same franchise.
Another example is Courtroom Chaos: Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. Players join the AI-powered party game with their phones instead of dedicated controllers. Schwarzenegger will also appear in Amazon’s upcoming holiday movie The Man with the Bag. Together, these releases show how Amazon wants streaming and gaming to work side by side.
