Anthropic AI has announced Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5, introducing its most advanced AI models to date and marking a major step forward in frontier artificial intelligence. The latest Anthropic AI announcement brings stronger performance across software engineering, scientific discovery, data analysis, vision understanding, and cybersecurity, while also adding new safeguards designed for broader public access.
The launch comes as AI companies, including OpenAI, Google, and xAI, continue competing to build more advanced systems for coding, research, and enterprise applications. Claude Fable 5 is available for general use, while Claude Mythos 5 will initially remain limited to approved cybersecurity organizations and research partners through the company’s trusted-access programs.
According to Anthropic, Claude Fable 5 is the first Mythos-class model released broadly to users. The company said it delivers state-of-the-art performance across several benchmarks and performs especially well on longer, more demanding tasks.
Key improvements include:
- Advanced software engineering and code migration
- Stronger document analysis and financial reasoning
- Better chart and data interpretation
- Improved vision capabilities for scientific figures and screenshots
- Enhanced long-context memory for multi-step work
One of the most notable gains is in software engineering. During testing, Stripe reported that Fable 5 compressed months of engineering work into days. In one example, the model completed a migration across a 50-million-line codebase in a single day, a task that would normally take a team of engineers more than two months.
The latest Anthropic Claude release also demonstrated stronger performance in knowledge work, helping users manage research, business intelligence, and documentation-heavy tasks more efficiently. Anthropic added that Fable 5 can analyze scientific figures, extract detailed visual information, and even recreate application source code from screenshots.

While Claude Fable 5 is designed for general users, Mythos 5 is intended for trusted partners in cybersecurity and life sciences. Anthropic said the model offers some of the strongest cybersecurity capabilities available today and is being deployed through Project Glasswing to support cyber defenders and critical infrastructure providers.
The model has also shown promise in scientific advancement. Internal studies found that Mythos 5 accelerated protein design and drug development processes while generating novel molecular biology hypotheses for future testing. To reduce potential misuse, Anthropic introduced additional safeguards.
The new safety systems focus on:
- Cybersecurity-related requests
- Biology and chemistry queries
- AI model distillation attempts
When triggered, these safeguards redirect requests to Claude Opus 4.8 instead of Fable 5. Anthropic said more than 95% of user sessions do not activate fallback behavior.
Claude Fable 5 is available through the Anthropic AI platform and Claude API at $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens, less than half the cost of Claude Mythos Preview. The model is included at no additional cost on Pro, Max, Team, and seat-based Enterprise plans through June 22. Beginning June 23, access to those plans will require usage credits unless Anthropic extends the availability window.
Thelaunch of Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5 highlights how AI systems are evolving beyond chatbot experiences into practical tools for software development, scientific discovery, cybersecurity, and enterprise operations, reflecting the industry’s broader push toward more powerful yet responsibly deployed AI technologies.
Author’s Note
Anthropic’s latest release highlights how advanced AI is increasingly being applied to software engineering, scientific research, and cybersecurity. As these systems become more capable, balancing innovation with safety will remain a critical challenge for the industry.
