Discord Meta Quest is now available as an official download from Meta’s Horizon App Store. Quest users can now chat with friends, join voice calls, and send messages without sideloading the app or using a web browser. They also no longer need to keep a phone or PC nearby while playing in VR.
Until now, many Quest users have relied on browser-based workarounds or another device to use Discord. The new Quest app removes those extra steps and brings the full Discord experience directly to the headset.
The update includes several new features for Quest users:
- Download Discord directly from the Meta Horizon app store.
- No sideloading or browser required
- Access to Discord servers, DMs, and Group DMs
- Voice calls using the headset’s built-in microphone.
- A floating Discord window while playing games
- Meta Avatar support for Discord video calls
- Stream Quest gameplay directly to Discord
Discord is now available for download on the Quest Store, supporting compatible Meta Quest headsets including Quest 3, Quest 3S, and Quest Pro. The Discord VR app also makes it easier to use Discord while gaming. Players can pin the app as a floating window and keep chatting while playing games like Beat Saber. They can reply to messages, check conversations, or join voice calls without leaving their game. This makes using Discord in VR feel much more like using it on a PC.
Another useful feature is Meta Avatar support for video calls. Instead of using a camera, users can appear as their personalized Meta avatar during conversations. The app also makes gameplay streaming much simpler. Players can now stream games directly from their Quest headset to Discord without using the older multi-device setup.
Discord offers a one-month free Nitro trial for eligible Meta Quest users who sign in through the official Quest app, according to Meta’s Discord launch blog. Nitro gives users higher-quality Go Live streaming, profile customization, custom emojis, and other premium features. Eligible users can also access Xbox Game Pass Ultimate benefits through the Xbox Cloud Gaming app available on supported Quest headsets.
Discord is already one of the most popular communication platforms for gamers on PC, console, and mobile. Bringing it to Quest shows how social features are becoming more important in virtual reality. Players now expect the same easy communication tools in VR that they already use on other gaming platforms.
The launch is more than a simple app release. By removing browser-based workarounds and extra setup, Discord Meta Quest makes it much easier to chat, stream gameplay, and stay connected while playing in VR. It also shows how virtual reality is becoming more connected with the wider gaming ecosystem, making it easier for players to communicate across different devices.
Author’s Note:
Discord support on Meta Quest is an important step for VR gaming. It removes the extra effort that many players face just to stay connected with friends. As virtual reality continues to grow, updates like this are making social gaming simpler, smoother, and more accessible for everyone.
