Meta is expanding its wearable AI ambitions with the launch of Meta Glasses, a new smart eyewear collection developed in partnership with EssilorLuxottica. Starting at $299, the lineup includes 26 styles, prescription lens support, hands-free photo and video capture, and AI-powered features designed to help users stay connected throughout the day.

The launch builds on the success of Meta’s earlier AI eyewear and reflects the company’s growing focus on wearable devices as the next major platform for artificial intelligence. As AI assistants become more capable, technology companies are increasingly looking beyond smartphones and toward devices that can provide real-time help throughout the day.

The new Meta EssilorLuxottica smart glasses lineup introduces three frame designs aimed at different styles and preferences. Meta Adventurer features a classic rectangular shape available in Standard and Large sizes. Meta Fury offers a bolder design, while Meta Glasses by Kylie, created in collaboration with Kylie Jenner, introduces a slim oval frame inspired by her personal style.

The eyewear supports prescription lenses and launches with 26 combinations of frames, colors, and lens options. The expanded selection highlights Meta’s effort to make connected eyewear appeal to a broader audience while maintaining the look and feel of traditional glasses.

The new wearable lineup includes:

  • Meta AI powered by Muse Spark
  • Dedicated action button for quick AI access
  • Open-ear speakers for music and calls
  • Advanced microphone system with wind-noise reduction
  • Hands-free photo and video capture
  • More than 8 hours of battery life
  • Charging case with up to 40 additional hours
  • Prescription lens compatibility
  • Built-in privacy controls and safeguards

According to the company, these features are designed to provide useful AI assistance while allowing users to stay aware of their surroundings. A major highlight of the new glasses is the integration of Meta AI, which can answer questions, provide recommendations, understand what users are looking at, help manage schedules, and support routine activities through voice commands. Meta says the upgraded assistant delivers more contextual and natural interactions across everyday tasks.

The AI assistant can answer questions, provide recommendations, understand what users are looking at, help manage schedules, and support routine activities through voice commands. Meta says Muse Spark improves multimodal understanding, enabling more contextual and natural interactions. The technology is also rolling out to Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta glasses in the United States and Canada.

The launch of EssilorLuxottica Meta wearables comes as companies across the technology industry race to establish smart glasses as the next major AI hardware category. Unlike smartphones, connected eyewear allows users to access information hands-free while remaining engaged with the world around them. Many industry observers see wearable AI devices as a practical way to bring digital assistants closer to everyday experiences.

The partnership combines Meta’s AI expertise with EssilorLuxottica’s long-standing experience in eyewear design and manufacturing, helping accelerate the move toward mainstream adoption. Meta plans to expand its AI smart glasses collection through regular software updates. The company recently introduced Dynamic Photo, which captures multiple frames and recommends the best image while still allowing users to choose their preferred shot.

Future updates will add pedestrian navigation for display-free glasses and expand live translation support to 14 additional languages, including Hindi, Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.

Available through Meta.com and select retail partners, the new smart eyewear represents another step in Meta’s broader vision for AI-powered devices. With artificial intelligence increasingly moving into hardware, the company is betting that smart glasses can become one of the most practical ways for people to interact with digital assistants throughout the day.

Author’s Note:

Smart glasses are quickly becoming one of the most important frontiers in AI hardware. Meta’s latest partnership with EssilorLuxottica shows how wearable technology is evolving from a niche gadget into an everyday digital companion.
